SUMMARY:Conversation with Helen Epstein
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening with noted journalist and author Helen Epstein as she offers insights into her unique autobiographical trilogy as well as her latest work. Helen is best known for the trilogy that begins with Children of the Holocaust\, a groundbreaking open discussion of family relationships and the Holocaust’s impact on the second generation. It is followed by Where She Came From\, a powerful account of her mother’s horrific experiences in the Holocaust and concludes with The Long Half-Lives of Love and Trauma\, an intimate view of the personal trauma of sexual abuse in its post-Holocaust context. Helen will also discuss how she drew on her mother’s experiences to help her in her own struggle with gynecological cancer\, which she documents in her book Getting Through It. The talk will be followed by questions from the audience and book signing. Our community partner\, Sharsheret\, a nonprofit organization with the goal of supporting Jewish women diagnosed with breast cancer and ovarian cancer\, will be available with important information and resources. \nFor more information and to register\, click here.
