SUMMARY:Beyond Surviving: How Tools from Lifestyle Medicine Can Empower Survivors\, Thrivers\, and Those Living with Cancer
DESCRIPTION:Maya Angelou said\, “My mission in life is not merely to survive\, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion\, some compassion\, some humor\, and some style.” This is a great sentiment to kick off Cancer Survivor Month\, which provides an opportunity to recognize cancer survivors\, thrivers\, and those living with cancer. During this interactive webinar participants will learn how to “thrive” and not just “survive\,” by focusing on the 6 pillars of lifestyle medicine: physical activity\, healthy eating\, restorative sleep\, stress management\, avoidance of risky substances\, and the power of personal connections. Participants will learn how tools from lifestyle medicine can optimize health\, well-being\, and outcome from cancer. Our expert is Dr. Amy Comander\, a breast oncologist and lifestyle medicine expert. \nBonus for our Embrace Community: We invite members of our Embrace community\, those facing metastatic breast or advanced ovarian cancer\, to stay on at the end of the webinar for an intimate breakout session with Dr. Comander and conversation with Bonnie Beckoff\, Director of Support Services. \nDr. Amy Comander is a breast oncologist and lifestyle medicine expert at the Massachusetts General Cancer Center. Dr. Comander is Director of Breast Oncology and Cancer Survivorship at the Mass General Cancer Center in Waltham and at Newton Wellesley Hospital. She is Medical Director of the Mass General Cancer Center in Waltham. She is Director of Lifestyle Medicine at the Mass General Cancer Center and an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister by clicking here.  \nFor questions\, please contact Melissa Rosen. \nThis webinar is made possible with generous support from: \n \nThe Cooperative Agreement DP19-1906 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
