SUMMARY:The Power Between the Words: Finding Meaning in the Darkness
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the third in our series of processing the cancer experience through creative writing. Poet Hadara Ben-Nadav is known for her unique blackout poetry. She can take a document\, artfully remove the majority of the words\, and create an entirely new piece. By taking something scary and overwhelming\, such as an article about cancer\, and removing the majority of the words\, we can reveal something empowering hidden in the larger story. \nWe’ll provide several written pieces to work with\, or feel free to bring your own. \nRegister here. \nQuestions? She is the author of five books of poetry\, most recently The Animal Is Chemical (Four Way Books\, 2024)\, awarded the Levis Prize in Poetry\, selected by Jericho Brown. In addition\, she is co-author with Michelle Boisseau of the best-selling textbook Writing Poems\, 8 th ed. (Pearson\, 2011).
