DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening with noted journalist and author Helen Epstein as she offers insights into her unique autobiographical trilogy as well as her latest work. Helen is best known for the trilogy that begins with Children of the Holocaust\, a groundbreaking open discussion of family relationships and the Holocaust’s impact on the second generation. It is followed by Where She Came From\, a powerful account of her mother’s horrific experiences in the Holocaust and concludes with The Long Half-Lives of Love and Trauma\, an intimate view of the personal trauma of sexual abuse in its post-Holocaust context. Helen will also discuss how she drew on her mother’s experiences to help her in her own struggle with gynecological cancer\, which she documents in her book Getting Through It. The talk will be followed by questions from the audience and book signing. DESCRIPTION:Join Sharsheret and Ariel Landrum\, LMFT for a 60- minute interactive workshop focused on the artform of mandalas. In this workshop\, we will engage in art that aims to both create balance and find uniqueness in each person’s experience.\n\n\nAll you need to participate is some colored pencils\, markers\, etc. \nYou are welcome to have additional materials such as magazine clippings\, scissors and glue (optional). \nAll registrants will receive a PDF of a mandala pattern prior to the webinar. \nRegister here. \n\nFor questions\, please contact Ellen Kleinhaus.\n\nAriel Landrum is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified Art Therapist. SUMMARY:Simple Coping Mechanisms to Reduce Cancer-Related Stress in Patients: A Training for Healthcare Providers
DESCRIPTION:Sharsheret’s free Simple Coping Mechanisms to Reduce Cancer-related Stress in Patients is a one hour interactive training that explores imagery and metaphors to assist patients with the anxiety that commonly accompanies diagnoses\, treatment\, and survivorship.  These tools\, meant to be shared with patients\, are intentionally familiar\, and easily recalled\, to be used during moments of unexpected stress\, to allow the patient to reframe their thoughts surrounding a particular concern. While these tools are not meant as a replacement for ongoing therapy for those who need\, they do allow for a non-threatening introduction to the topic of mental health.
